Nanette Travanchet
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over
Or has it just begun?
A Cinderella Story In Progress
The Travanchets were one of the lesser highborn families in Ishgard, though they did not lack in wealth nor noble manner. The head of the household, the Viscount Robertaine, was incredibly influential among the church thanks to his numerous generous donations to the temple coffers. His son, Henrisoix, was a jovial temple knight loyal to the archbishop. His daughter, Nanette, was most often found toying with a parade of suitors, or frivolously spending father's money on the latest fashions. It was good to be an Ishgardian noble. Then came the Dragonsong War.Henrisoix would die in combat defending the temple. Household property went up in flames during the ensuing revolts. Robertaine would ultimately die of the proverbial broken heart, leaving what little was left of the Travanchet estate to a distant relative. His wife, a broken shell of a woman, was taken in by her relatives in House Rosaire to live her days resting on a pastoral estate. Which left Nanette, once a princess, now all but as alone, destitute, and homeless as a Brume urchin. With nothing more than the clothes she could pack, Nanette fled to the Black Shroud. There she found refuge with a childhood friend, who offered her a job at their bookstore in Ul'dah.Haunted by her loss and forced into living the life of a commoner, an unsure Nanette has been rebuilding her life out of the ashes. She's found a new family at the Codex, and has been training to follow their footsteps in adventuring.Age: 26

Ishgardian nobility would recognize her as Robertaine's daughter, once a notable member of high society who fell from grace. Tragic, honestly.Nanette left plenty of disappointed suitors in her wake, highborn and knights who never quite met up to her standards. The Travanchet's devotion to the church and archbishop left a sour taste in many an Ishgardian mouth following the Dragonsong War. Questions have been raised as to how much did Robertaine and Henrisoix knew of Thordan's plans. How much would they have told Nanette? While the Travanchet estate has fallen, there are rumors about both Foundation and the Brume that there still exists a suitable sum still hidden somewhere. She can be often caught daydreaming while ostensibly working at Thaliak's Codex, though she does earnestly help customers who approach for assistance. It would be unbecoming of someone of her stature to not give it her best effort.
OOC Info
Nanette can be found on the Balmung server. My hours are Eastern evenings, though I occasionally get pulled into on-call work that require me to AFK at a moment's notice. 'tis the life of a retail sysadmin, but, hey, the pay's good!I'm a middle aged roleplayer, veteran of everything from MUSHes through Guild Wars 2. I'm the Farmers Insurance of roleplay, I know a few things because I've seen a few things.I'm good for mature themes. My writing influences are primarily Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, and Neil Gaiman, so often my roleplaying tends to be not totally super serious. I do, however, roll with most anything. My general rule is fading to black instead of ERP, I've been around long enough to have had enough experience to by and large avoid it.
